Meet Yanina Wickmayer
Yanina Wickmayer will be competing in the Hawaii Open for the first time. The former WTA No. 12 from Belgium has 5 singles titles and represented Belgium in the Fed Cup from 2007- 2016 and the Belgium Olympic Team in 2012.
“The Hawaii Open is a great tournament to start the 2020 season,” said Wickmayer. “I’m excited to visit the island and compete against top talent.”
Since Wickmayer started competing professionally in 2004, she has seen a large amount of success. She hit her all-time high work ranking of 12 after ending the 2009 season strong and staying strong into the beginning of the 2010 season. She has also made multiple deep runs at various Grand Slams, having made a semi-final appearance at the US Open in 2009. Her most recent singles title was the 2016 Citi Open.

She is trilingual (Dutch, English, and French).
Her favorite things outside of tennis are shopping, watching movies, seeing friends, and soccer.
