HONOLULU, HI, USA – Catherine Bellis continued her fine run of form with a dominant second-round victory over Usue Maitane Arconada at the Hawaii Open on Thursday.

Fifty-five minutes was all it took for Bellis, the No.4 seed, to wrap up a 6-1, 6-2 victory and set up a quarterfinal against Sara Sorribes Tormo.

“I’m really happy I won, I felt great out there,” Bellis said during her on-court interview. “I’m trying just to focus on me and my game and that’s what I’ll do going forward. I’m getting better with every match – that’s the goal for every tournament.”

Bellis dropped her opening service game, but from then on it was one-way traffic. Five straight games gave her the first set and she repeated the trick in the second to extend her winning streak to 11 matches.

Back-to-back ITF Circuit titles last month sent Bellis flying up the rankings, the second of which saw her become the youngest player inside the Top 100. No.7 seed Sorribes Tormo is the next player charged with halting Bellis’ charge, after eventually seeing off another American, Asia Muhammad, 6-3, 4-6, 6-1.

Also advancing were No.8 seed Samantha Crawford, who defeated Danielle Collins, 6-1, 7-5, and Sachia Vickery, a 6-4, 6-1 winner over Eri Hozumi.
