Today we have an updated order of play including a real treat.
We will start as planned with our Men’s Final, featuring what will undoubtedly be a thriller between Brandon Nakashima and Sam Querrey. Brandon has had an epic run through the first two rounds of the Hawaii Open, and he’s fired up and ready to go. Sam always brings his A-game, and he’s looking to bring a win today to kick off his season.
Unfortunately, Angelique Kerber has withdrawn from the tournament after she sustained an injury during warm-up this morning. We wish her the very best and thank her for the great level of play she has brought throughout this tournament.
Congratulations to Danielle Collins, our 2019 Hawaii Open Women’s Champion!
In place of the Women’s Final, we will feature a mixed doubles match as a surprise to our fans! This is not to be missed as Hawaii Open players including Sam Querrey, Yanina Wickmayer, Christian Harrison, and Danielle Collins face off.
Today’s matches will also include appearances from Kei Nishikori and Angelique Kerber cheering on their fellow players.
Below is a statement from Angelique Kerber:
“I was looking forward to competing in the championship of the Hawaii Open today. During my warm-up, I sustained an injury and unfortunately, have to withdraw,” said Kerber. “Thank you to all of my fans who came out to see me play. It was so great meeting you all in beautiful Oahu. I will be in attendance today to support the other players and I look forward to seeing everyone.”
We are looking forward to welcoming all our fans today at the Stan Sheriff Center or viewing live on the Tennis Channel!
